KWIET Now Available

Thursday, 27 January 2011 21:00 CST

We are pleased to announce the pilot version of the Kansas Writing Instruction and Evaluation Tool (KWIET) is now available!

KWIET is an online environment where students compose pieces of writing in response to writing tasks and where teachers evaluate, score, and provide feedback upon that student writing.

This spring’s piloting of KWIET is designed to give educators and students an opportunity to see how the tool works and also gather important feedback to help refine and improve the tool before its final roll out in August 2011.

Important points regarding this spring’s pilot of KWIET:
  • Some elements of the tool are not yet fully operational—additional features will be added in August 2011;
  • Any districts/schools/teachers who choose to be a part of the pilot may do so—participation is not required;
  • The tool does require a small file to be installed on each computer students will use;
  • Student TEST records and SCRS data must be submitted via the KIDS system before the tool can be used;
  • Educators will need a CETE teacher account to use the tool; and
  • Teachers may make use of the Instructional Example Prompts pre-loaded into the tool or create their own prompts for student writing.
